Sara Raffo and Heather Davis competed for the opportunity to create an identity system for the Yolo Community Foundation. I helped select and worked with Twin Theory Design throughout the design and production of our system. Not only did Sara and Heather understand the complex, unique nature of our county and foundation, but through their persistent inquiry we also developed a deeper understanding of ourselves. Their youth belies their high level of professionalism and powerful ability to capture concepts in a design.

For YCF, the result is a logo that captures the agrarian/urban dynamic of the county while suggesting the unifying base of the foundation – it is no easy task to put these concepts in an image! In execution, Twin Theory chose materials that enhanced the design and were sensitive to our concern for using ecological materials. They gave us careful, thoughtful guidance, and were patient with our “management by committee.” We are very happy with their work, and enjoy the response that our system evokes as we share it with community members.
